Creating an inspiring brand, and engaging space for local’s to hang out, and do good.

Food & drink is at the forefront of this project, with Hengata offering authentic dishes using artisan techniques, at affordable prices.

The USP is the educational value this project harnesses via collaboration with its local communities, a narrative which will form part of Hengata’s design aesthetic.

A balance between the creative and commercial aspects of the business will be key, ensuring a unique diner experience whilst maximising profitability, which will in part fund future philanthropic work.

The word Hengata has its origins in the Finnish language, and means ‘to hang out’, or ‘be friends’. 

With this in mind, we seek  to create a space where food is at the fore  but recognises the importance of  a shared experience, and an environment within which to feel energised, inspired, and at ease. 

A sense of playfulness is at Hengata’s core, from the nod to youth culture to the  found objects adorning shelves, and  the mix of  tactile materials providing guests with contrast, surprise, and depth, a rich sensory experience. 

Carefully curated playlists feature Neo-soul, funk, Hip Hop, and Jazz genres, and alongside our food and drink offer, give customers another reason to return, make conversation, and  hang out. 

Hengata hope’s to bring people together; to eat, drink, and be merry, but more than that our vision is to utilise our collective skills to do good
